Todd Akin's Party: More Than 40 Republican Candidates Oppose Abortion In Cases Of Rape, Incest: "When this great nation was formed, blacks were considered property and lower in status than a pig and only white men could vote. As the nation grew, the Native Americans were nearly eliminated by the white men as they took over their land and broke treaties. After the Civil War, blacks still couldn't vote, women couldn't vote and the government sanctioned Jim Crow laws. Fast forward to the World Wars and American Japanese are placed in internment camps, women do vote and the government sanctions segregation in the military. We move forward and civil rights laws are passed, abortion laws are passed and voting rights laws are passed. And today, we have GOP politicians wanting to roll back voting laws by claiming voter fraud where little exist, rape can be legitimate and apparently has categories and if you get pregnant from a rape, abortion is off the table with the Akin 40 members. Yes, we're really come a long way haven't we."
