Ann Curry's 'Today' Exit: Steve Capus, NBC News President, Says 'We Gave Her A Year To Prove Herself'

Ann Curry's 'Today' Exit: Steve Capus, NBC News President, Says 'We Gave Her A Year To Prove Herself': "If one were to take a step back and look at this objectively, Ann Curry had 14 years of one the job training studying not just her colleagues but the competition on their interview skills and styles. Watching Ann in her last few months was painful as she, as Marissa Guthrie described, faltered in an alarming rate. She's not an intern getting paid $10 million, she's a professional and her bosses gave her that chance. It's unfortunate but it may be that her personality was always meant to be that second string construct. If she didn't see herself as being number one, she will never be number one. Meredith Vieira came there after being at the helm of a talk show which gave her presence. Jane Pauley had presence as did Katie Couric as well as an ebullient personality. Ann was dry and perhaps too inflexible to deal with the rigors of multiple personalities from the celebs? Her Steve Carell interview and Mike Tyson interview were painful. In the end, she seemed more lost than self assured. She may have won some fans in her swan song but she also let the professional world know that she will never be a frontrunner to any major broadcast. Sadly, her critics called it right. "

Ann Curry's 'Today' Exit: Steve Capus, NBC News President, Says 'We Gave Her A Year To Prove Herself'

Ann Curry's 'Today' Exit: Steve Capus, NBC News President, Says 'We Gave Her A Year To Prove Herself': "Ann Curry called herself a "groundbreaker" when she signed off. What exactly did she do to earn that title that made the work any more unique than the previous women who sat there? I thought it was Barbara Walter's who blaze that trail being the first woman to host that program. Jane Pauley made history, Katie Couric made history and Meredith Veira made her own history as well or they wouldn't have hired her. The assessment that Ann faltered in several areas was true and to the point as was evident in two interviews, Mike Tyson and Steve Carell. Although her fan base were disappointed, having a year to correct yourself was more than enough time for someone who watched from the benches all that time. Ann was a news reader for 14 years and she did well as a special correspondent but did she do something different to the teleprompter that was gender specific to be a groundbreaker?"

Channing Tatum: Sexy Is Difficult For Guys Wearing Thongs In 'Magic Mike'

Channing Tatum: Sexy Is Difficult For Guys Wearing Thongs In 'Magic Mike': "I predict Magic Mike will bomb. The makers of this movie is making the assumption that this one dimensional character is enough to woo gullible superficial women. Call this the "Showgirls/Coyote Ugly" of male stripper movies. This movie wants you to accept the notion that women are going to sway and swoon over shirtless muscle bound high school dropouts and think that's great filmmaking. The only thing I see is it being a total waste of resources to make this a theatrical release. It would have been cheaper if they would have shot this on a regular handheld camcorder in a warehouse and shoot it in two days like any porn flick. And here is something you won't be hearing about this movie, An the Oscar for best film goes to..."

Ann Curry: 'Am I Not Good Enough?'

Ann Curry: 'Am I Not Good Enough?': "My choice for morning talk show has always been the Today Show. It would be on as I got ready for work. I watched when the bias Katie Couric was there as I tolerated her opinions. Meredith Veira was a better fit and never took herself too seriously. And when Ann Curry took over, I hadn't watched in a while and when I did, there was something missing in her approach. I recently saw her interview Mike Tyson and she flubbed it from the start when she said it was his first time there but he corrected her and told her he was there in the 80's when Bryant Gumbel was there. And then she interviewed Steve Carell for his new movie and her said something about what he wanted to do if it was the end of the world and she responded that was smart and he quickly corrected her by saying no it'snot, it's stupid. I don't know if the staff is ill serving Curry or that she's always going to be that number two type of personality? She wants to be the prom queen but she really belongs with the chess club nerds."

Oliver Stone, 'Savages' Director, On Graphic Sex Scenes, The War On Drugs And Barack Obama

Oliver Stone, 'Savages' Director, On Graphic Sex Scenes, The War On Drugs And Barack Obama: "It's interesting that Oliver Stones makes the statement that he can't do the graphic three way sex scene because he has to work within the film rating system. Has he not consider the fact that Obama is also working within a system that doesn't allow him to make the changes he seems to covet? The typical Hollywood celebrity has some pet cause that they want the government to spend tons of cash on while ignoring just about every other program needed to keep a country going in these tight economic times. It's okay for Stones to work with his limitations but it's not alright for Obama to suffer through a hostile Speaker of the House and a Senate and House of Republicans hell bent from day one to do nothing to make his time in the White House productive. I'm sure filming a half naked Blake Lively in a tub was a lot easier that getting legislation passed in the House, Oliver."

Romney Hopes To Have Immigration Reform Done By Time He Takes Office

Romney Hopes To Have Immigration Reform Done By Time He Takes Office: "Isn't it nice for Mitt Romney is committed to being uncommitted on topics. His evasiveness on any topic shows you that if he was a surgeon and you had a broken leg, his response would be that I'll fix it when I get elected. In the meantime, the leg get gangrene and has to be cut off. Way to go Mitt. You're running for the highest office in the land and you're doing Ross Perot style double speak. Act like you care. We are waiting for you to campaign in those areas where you shop and make your speeches there. These areas are parts of America too. You can't just be in the caviar set all the time or only stay within the confines of Fox News to sell yourself. The only thing that represents is that your elitism is so ingrained that you can't see the forest before the Grey Poupon and that's because you've clear cut the forest to make way for a new ski lodge."

Mitt Romney Ohio Speech: Obama Is 'Long On Words And Short On Action'

Mitt Romney Ohio Speech: Obama Is 'Long On Words And Short On Action': "Let's see Mitt, Obama orders the killing of Somali pirates who kidnapped an American captain and his ship in international waters, isn't that action Mitt? Let's see, Obama and team watch as helicopters swoop in on the compound of Osama bin Laden and taken him out in the hostile borders of Pakistan, isn't that action Mitt? It seems like you're long on rhetoric and short on answers Mitt as you call for the elimination of jobs for teachers, firefighters and policemen."

Miranda Kerr Sheer Shirt: How To Not 'Dress Like A Wife'? (PHOTOS)

Miranda Kerr Sheer Shirt: How To Not 'Dress Like A Wife'? (PHOTOS): "Kate Moss may have a point, just the other day I saw a very attractive woman wearing those mom shorts, the kind that stops right above the knee. I had the same thought, what happen to women to dress this way and give off those vibes of I'm not even trying anymore cause I just put this on because that's what the clothes manufacturers tell moms to wear. Miranda Kerr is what we want to see, she hasn't resigned her faith that she has to dress in the mommy army fatigues that somebody else prescribed. You don't have to be famous to dress the way Miranda does but you can if you so choose and get that handle of MILF. Why resign yourself into these roles that just because you're a mother your sexuality has to take a hit? June Cleaver never wore the mommy shorts, she was dressed nice and made an effort and even though that was make believe, she and Donna Reed were original MILF's."

Cheryl Cole Quits America: Singer's Album Won't Be Released Stateside

Cheryl Cole Quits America: Singer's Album Won't Be Released Stateside: "Even in her homeland in the U.K. Cheryl Cole isn't too well received there. Even her sex tape didn't generate any concern. Her performance at the Queens Jubilee celebrations was met with disdain as her singing was considered horrible by her fans. Simon Cowel was concerned that her accent was too heavy to understand for her to be a judge on his X-Factor show. So why is this big announcement needed? She's not that interesting in the U.K. and if she was as talented as Adele or Duffy, she would have made these shores two years ago. So turn down your pious bravado and keep pretending you're that good because even your own countrymen find you lacking. Don't blame America for your lack of talent that can't breech the market."

Katie Couric Talk Show Debuts Web Promo (VIDEO)

Katie Couric Talk Show Debuts Web Promo (VIDEO): "It seems to me that Katie Couric pulled this same stunt when she went over to CBS. SHe had this tour across America to get people to watch her evening news and we know how that turned out. And now we it's Katie Couric 3.0 as we hear the same stuff rehashed over again. At CBS she was totally in charge but never owned up to the fallout of her dismal ratings and blamed it all on not having testicles. And she is quick to charge comments about her as sexist and yet she pulls out the testicles excuse for having low ratings numbers, that's sexist. So, here we go again, she plays all the cards, mommy, widower, single parent, under dog but the viewing public isn't that gullible and the viewers taste have shifted to an attention span of whatever is on their Iphones and Ipads. Maybe she should just hookup with Kelly Ripa and be done with it, then you can have two annoying personalities all in one quick hour."

Mitt Romney's 'Absurd' Claim Misses Billions In Federal Funds For Cops, Teachers, Firefighters

Mitt Romney's 'Absurd' Claim Misses Billions In Federal Funds For Cops, Teachers, Firefighters: "Mitt Romney is basically chewing off his own face when he constantly speak from the hip from the comfort of Fox and Friends. They don't challenge his statements and when he once again shove that penny loafer shoe in his mouth, he runs to his friendly media outlet to restate his comments. Only this time he opened the door to his failings to grasp the concept of what the federal government does. Our society, we the people, do need the support of the federal government on a host of programs. Some have gone away due to budget cuts and Republican led annihilation based on "just because" but for the most part, these programs do carry a safety line to the people in many communities where their budgets can't cover certain items. Community Development Block grants aided communities who couldn't afford fire trucks and fire apparatus. This is just a sample of what Mitt fails to grasp when he misses the big picture. Money used to fund key items allows local budgets to maintain personnel but ole Mitt would rather see parts of the country burn down rather than admit he was wrong."

Gwyneth Paltrow And 27 Other People Who Can Never, Ever Use The N-Word

Gwyneth Paltrow And 27 Other People Who Can Never, Ever Use The N-Word: "I don't know if the author of this piece is being tongue-in-cheek or what but by judging the list, nobody, regardless of social status, should be using the word. And I fond it interesting that American blacks who still use the word make the claim that they are "taking back the name" as if you had ownership in it. What a load of bull. That word was created by southern racist slave holders who's intent was to rob the slaves of any human dignity by subjecting them to as many abusers as they could muster. By clinging on to this word, you only perpetuate the memory of this human indignation to this word that you didn't create. And all of these intellectual celebrities who think they are above reproach when they say it, ignore the fact that the word still cuts into a person's self worth and humanity. We recognize Nazism and the words of hate from that era and put them where they are and yet we can't seem to put this word where it needs to be, in the archives of racist dogma."

Vagina Brightening: Indian TV Ad For Genital Skin Whitening Product Stokes Controversy

Vagina Brightening: Indian TV Ad For Genital Skin Whitening Product Stokes Controversy: "Does vagina whitening comes with fluoride and a minty taste? You might as well kill tow birds with one stone as they say if we're going to be down there for a while. Why not fight cavities at the same time? Maybe whitening is not the answer, maybe the guy just need a flashlight on his penis to see at night? They do have glow in the dark condoms. And don't porn stars do the bleaching of the bun hole? Odd that you don't see any whitening or bleaching of man junk and you know why, because if it can't make it longer, stronger or donkey-er, he's not going to do it. Quite frankly, I've never known any man to turn down any based on pigmentation. So this is definitely somebody who hates women or maybe some corporation creating a problem where none exist. It's like a pharmaceutical company coming up with a new medicine for some new condition that nobody ever heard of like restless leg syndrome, never heard of it before until some drug company started pushing a medicine for it."

Barbara Walters Apologizes For Attempting To Get Assad Aide An Internship At CNN, Place At Columbia

Barbara Walters Apologizes For Attempting To Get Assad Aide An Internship At CNN, Place At Columbia: "Barbara Walter's always like to proclaim that they don't do "checkbook" journalism, the practice of paying for interviews but this particular tactic of making a special effort of getting an internship for an Assad aide should be the equivalent to this checkbook practice. If it wasn't for the release of these emails, Barbara wouldn't have been exposed as the less than honest maven of journalism she likes to boast about. How much is this internship worth, $30K, $50K, $75K? If Barbara would have succeeded in getting this aide an internship, she would also have displaced an American form that job as well. It seems like this is more to it than meets the eye and an investigation must be conducted to see if Barbara has done this before. All interviews should be tainted with the smell of a buyout by means of trade or bartering."

Lindsay Lohan, 'First Point': Actress Stars In Richard Phillips' Short Film (VIDEO, PHOTOS)

Lindsay Lohan, 'First Point': Actress Stars In Richard Phillips' Short Film (VIDEO, PHOTOS): "Honestly, these so called "Art" films Lindsay Lohan is doing looks more like a farce than actual film work, These so called filmmakers aren't using her as a talent but banking on the fact that she has controversy strongly linked to her name. The things she has already done in actual acting has been met with tepid reviews on her skills. The SNL stint was poor that told many she had done nothing to hone here acting skills and relied on her infamy to get through the day. The same was said about her appearance on Glee where her diva behavior shined brightly. Still, she has her handlers doing their best to keep the charade up on her "talent" as she is constantly referred to as "the Mean Girl" or "the Parent Trap" actress. Prior to the Liz & Dick flick and SNL stint, she was only getting print work, no acting involved."

Rihanna Slams Esquire UK Journalist For Asking Questions About Chris Brown

Rihanna Slams Esquire UK Journalist For Asking Questions About Chris Brown: "As popular as Rihanna is, she seems to believe in her own hype if she thinks being physically assaulted is a trivial matter. As I recall the images of her brutalized face, busted lip, contusions around the eyes, these marks in her eyes are trivial. So ladies, what does that say to you from someone who has been victimized but seems to not only move past it but consider it nothing more than just an inconvenience and that having a professional collaboration with your former abuser is perfectly okay. I would hate to refer to this as a generational issue but to take the position of arrogance does not bode well for your image. If this was to occur again, would she still feel this way and would she have some how given the incident that lack of importance and the next guy will see her as accepting of this behavior? What seems to be missing with her is a lack of education and maybe she should have gone to some women's centers to see the aftermath of women who have forgiven their abusers and the consequences that has happen for turning the other cheek."

Dan Rather: Katie Couric Probably Won't Invite Me To Her Daytime Show (VIDEO)

Dan Rather: Katie Couric Probably Won't Invite Me To Her Daytime Show (VIDEO): "It's interesting that Walter Cronkite never received any vitriol for his opinions lang after he left CBS News. Dan Rather, on the other side, has not received any kind favors. Maybe it's his choice of how he uses his words that rankle many and the truth he sometimes speaks, hits too close to the mark. Katie Couric's time at CBS was brutal from week 2. The honeymoon period was short lived and the ratings never materialized and in fact went further down for the number 3 news network. Dan's colorful assessment to his heir to the chair may have been tinged with a bit of resentment as to how he left but in the final analysis, Couric was a failure and CBS didn't know what to do with $15 million a year to justify the salary. She blamed everyone including recently in a commencement speech for her not having any testicles for the failure. CBS laid themselves out to her and she was the managing editor of the evening news. At some point, the burden of ownership to your work rest solely at your feet. If the viewers find you off putting, your perky persona only goes so far when it comes to the hard news."

Flash Steinbeiser: Writer James Robinson Shines a Light on DC Entertainment's Latest Gay Superhero, Earth-Two's Green Lantern

Flash Steinbeiser: Writer James Robinson Shines a Light on DC Entertainment's Latest Gay Superhero, Earth-Two's Green Lantern: "I wonder if the villains fighting against this Green Lantern will look at him the way the villains of the Ambiguously Gay Duo of SNL look at them? Can you imagine this Green Lantern creating weapons with his ring that are mostly phallic in nature and the bad guys saying "what is that supposed to be? and Green lantern saying "what are you staring at, haven't you seen a blunder cannon with a curve in it?" Can you really take him serious or does comedy comes to mind? Will his green ray turn to chartreuse?  Will the Flash be uncomfortable changing in front of him at the Justice League? Will Wonder Woman be his beard when he visits his parents? The Bat cave, too busy or will he give it a makeover? When he's fighting, will he break out with a West Side story choreographed move? These stories and more in your next edition of the Fabulous Green Lantern."
