Ann Curry's 'Today' Exit: Steve Capus, NBC News President, Says 'We Gave Her A Year To Prove Herself'

Ann Curry's 'Today' Exit: Steve Capus, NBC News President, Says 'We Gave Her A Year To Prove Herself': "If one were to take a step back and look at this objectively, Ann Curry had 14 years of one the job training studying not just her colleagues but the competition on their interview skills and styles. Watching Ann in her last few months was painful as she, as Marissa Guthrie described, faltered in an alarming rate. She's not an intern getting paid $10 million, she's a professional and her bosses gave her that chance. It's unfortunate but it may be that her personality was always meant to be that second string construct. If she didn't see herself as being number one, she will never be number one. Meredith Vieira came there after being at the helm of a talk show which gave her presence. Jane Pauley had presence as did Katie Couric as well as an ebullient personality. Ann was dry and perhaps too inflexible to deal with the rigors of multiple personalities from the celebs? Her Steve Carell interview and Mike Tyson interview were painful. In the end, she seemed more lost than self assured. She may have won some fans in her swan song but she also let the professional world know that she will never be a frontrunner to any major broadcast. Sadly, her critics called it right. "
