Ann Curry's 'Today' Exit: Steve Capus, NBC News President, Says 'We Gave Her A Year To Prove Herself'

Ann Curry's 'Today' Exit: Steve Capus, NBC News President, Says 'We Gave Her A Year To Prove Herself': "Ann Curry called herself a "groundbreaker" when she signed off. What exactly did she do to earn that title that made the work any more unique than the previous women who sat there? I thought it was Barbara Walter's who blaze that trail being the first woman to host that program. Jane Pauley made history, Katie Couric made history and Meredith Veira made her own history as well or they wouldn't have hired her. The assessment that Ann faltered in several areas was true and to the point as was evident in two interviews, Mike Tyson and Steve Carell. Although her fan base were disappointed, having a year to correct yourself was more than enough time for someone who watched from the benches all that time. Ann was a news reader for 14 years and she did well as a special correspondent but did she do something different to the teleprompter that was gender specific to be a groundbreaker?"
